We call our country The Gambia, named from the famous river The Gambia River that runs throughout the length of our country. The capital is Banjul. We gained our independency in 1965 but we are still a member of the British Commonwealth.
Our nation has no proven reserves of minerals of significance so our economy is still heavily dependant on agriculture, horticulture and fishery but with an ever increasing focus on tourism.
Our country is an ideal destination for tourists from Europe. We have no language barriers and only six hours of flying time from central Europe. Through the winter period in Europe we offer almost constant sunshine to be enjoyed on warm, sandy beaches or in lush gardens.
We offer excellent accommodation next to the beach at Kotu. In addition a wide range of services are offered throughout the country.
